Tennis: The End of Sets? ITF Launches "Tie Break Tens"
The desire to reduce match durations to make them even more entertaining seems increasingly likely.
Indeed, the International Tennis Federation has named "Tie Break Tens" as the official partner for short-format tennis. An initiative aimed at being integrated into the Junior Touring Initiative (JTI) program in certain countries.
What is Tie Break Tens?
Matches composed solely of 10-point tie-breaks, with no traditional games or sets. Victory is achieved as soon as one player reaches 10 points with at least a 2-point lead.
What is the goal?
To modernize the sport, attract younger audiences, and build confidence in high-pressure moments. The earlier young players are introduced to this format, the more easily they can perform.
As a reminder, Break Tens was launched in 2015 and has already hosted 13 events. Djokovic, Williams, Nadal, and Murray have participated. Additionally, 100 professional players have taken part in 13 "Elite TB10" tournaments to date, with over $2 million awarded in prize money.
