The French women are playing for their qualification to the BJK Cup finals this Friday
Following their defeat against Colombia at the end of 2024, the French Billie Jean King Cup team was relegated to the second division.
This week, they are fighting to return to the elite during a series of three tournaments in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Things started well for the French team on Tuesday against Sweden. However, the next day’s match against Turkey did not go as planned, with Clara Burel’s injury forcing her to retire, as well as Varvara Gracheva’s defeat.
This Friday, the French team will face Belgium in a decisive match: the winner will compete in the playoffs this November to secure a return to the first division.
The diagnosis for Clara Burel is in: she has suffered a torn ACL. Captain Julien Benneteau will have to choose a replacement, likely Caroline Garcia.
