The Indian Wells tournament justifies its surface change: "This consistency ensures that all courts are equal across events"
This Sunday, the Indian Wells tournament announced a surface change for the 2025 edition.
Thus, after twenty-five years of using Plexipave, the event's management has decided to switch to Laykold, already used at the US Open and in Miami.
A decision that was justified in a statement, in order to have uniformity between tournaments: "By adjusting the court speed, Laykold experts will bring the most consistent courts in tennis history to the 'fifth major.'
By adapting our courts to playing conditions, we allow tennis to move seamlessly around the globe.
This intercontinental consistency ensures that within the same event and across events, all courts are equal and that tennis comes down to the players. It's a good thing for everyone."
