The next player who has Andy as a coach will be lucky," says Djokovic about Murray
The collaboration between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray lasted only five months, but it marked the first part of this 2025 season.
After smoothly advancing through the first round of Roland-Garros, Djokovic once again spoke about his former coach during a press conference:
"I think I’ve said enough on the subject, but I’ll say it again. Andy is an incredible person. I’ve known him since we were very young, facing each other in under-12 categories all the way to the final days of his career.
The fact that he joined my team and that we gave this coach-player relationship a chance was something amazing for us and for tennis. I felt privileged. I had a lot of fun, even though we didn’t achieve the success we hoped for or that people expected. But I’m certain I learned things, and I loved talking tennis with him.
I think he’s one of the brightest guys in terms of tennis IQ. The next player he coaches will be lucky. He has so much to share and really great ideas. It just didn’t work out between us in terms of results, but that’s where it ends.
I cherished all the time spent with him, and we’re now even closer thanks to these 4-5 months of working together.
