The start of the round of 16 is on the schedule at Indian Wells this Tuesday
The serious business is just beginning in the California desert. This Tuesday, March 11, marks the start of the round of 16 in both the men's and women's draws. Five of the eight matches scheduled for today will take place on the center court.
Kicking off at 7 PM (French time), the defending champion Iga Swiatek will face Karolina Muchova. Following that, Holger Rune and Stefanos Tsitsipas will battle for a spot in the quarterfinals. The last Frenchman in the men's singles draw, Arthur Fils, will take on Marcos Giron.
In the night session, two more matches will be worth watching. At 2 AM, Tommy Paul will aim to overcome the reigning doubles finalist, Daniil Medvedev.
Finally, Zheng Qinwen will look to confirm her return to form against Marta Kostyuk, who was a semifinalist in the same tournament last year and needs a win to stay in the WTA top 25.
On Stadium 2, Tallon Griekspoor will be in action at 7 PM against the tournament's surprise, Japanese qualifier Yosuke Watanuki.
The last two matches scheduled for today in the women's draw will follow on the same court. Jessica Pegula will play against Elina Svitolina before another exciting match between Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva.
