The Wimbledon organization has provided explanations for the failure of the electronic line-calling system during the Pavlyuchenkova-Kartal match.
The match between Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Sonay Kartal was marked by a glaring video refereeing error. While a ball landed well behind the line, the system failed to react.
This led to complaints from Pavlyuchenkova, who felt wronged on a game point during a service game she ultimately lost.
The BBC relayed the All England Club's explanations, which were quite surprising: "The system was deactivated during the point in question due to an operator error.
A spokesperson later stated on Sunday that after further investigation, it was discovered the technology had been 'accidentally disabled on the server side during a game.'
During this period, three decisions from the affected side of the court were not taken into account."
