"There are still many things to improve that are glaring to me," regrets Parry after her loss to Kostyuk in the third round of the US Open

Diane Parry was not far from her first Grand Slam round of 16. The French player, who started her match against Marta Kostyuk perfectly in the third round of the US Open, had won the first set before earning a break point at 4-4 in the second.
But ultimately, it was the Ukrainian who came out on top in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in 2h25). Although aware there were positives in this tournament, the Nice native analyzed her loss against the world No. 28 in a press conference.
"The regret is in the second set, I hold on and then I get broken in the final game foolishly. I think at the start of the third set, I was much less focused in the first two games.
I tried to stay positive but it didn’t work out. It’s always better than losing in the first round, but there are still many things to improve that are glaring to me.
That’s what is even more frustrating because, despite everything, I still manage to hang with these players. I need to keep working even harder, serve/return, that’s the most important.
If I put myself in trouble on my serve and then on return I make easy mistakes, it complicates my task. I don’t look at the ranking, I have a lousy ranking. I’ve been better and I aspire to be better than this. It’s frustrating to stagnate for months," regretted Parry, who will turn 23 this Monday, September 1st, for L'Équipe.
