There were tear gas, burned-out cars," Djokovic recounts his chaotic night after PSG's Champions League victory
Novak Djokovic advanced to his 19th career quarterfinal at Roland-Garros on Monday and will face Alexander Zverev in an attempt to reach the semifinals.
On Saturday, the Serbian had to play a night session, and his match ended right in the middle of PSG fans' celebrations after their team's Champions League triumph. His return to the hotel was somewhat disrupted, as he explained in a press conference:
"I have to thank the head of security. He and his team were incredible. A lot of people were worried about me getting back to the hotel. They even advised us not to return to our hotel and to find a place to stay nearby. It was past midnight.
There were tear gas, burned-out cars, and anything moving on the street was dangerous. We waited a bit, then decided to leave. In the end, everything turned out fine. But it was very loud, with a lot happening outside the hotel.
It was interesting to watch what was happening through the window. But at one point, things escalated. It’s understandable that people are so excited about a first Champions League victory. This is one of the most important cities in the world. Everyone is celebrating, and I’m sure it’ll go on for several more days.

I have seen that news in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Italy, England, etc. Over what? A Football team?
That is Football. Disgusting sport.
