"These Are the Matches I Need to Start Winning," Says De Minaur Reflecting on His Loss to Djokovic at Wimbledon

Alex de Minaur is having a slightly underwhelming 2025 season so far. However, he has a chance to turn things around this week in Washington and at the Toronto and Cincinnati Masters 1000 events.
Injured after Wimbledon last year, he missed these three tournaments, meaning this is a great opportunity for the Australian to earn some ranking points.
In an interview with the ATP, he also reflected on his loss to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon round of 16.
He said: *"I felt like I had my chances. We should have gone to a fifth set. It slipped away from me pretty quickly, but these are the matches I need to start winning.*
*I’ve identified a few things to work on with my team, and I hope that will help me take the next step.*
*I have the experience now. I have the knowledge and the physical ability. Everything is in place for me to perform.*
*I can really establish myself over the next three or four years and show that I’m at the top of my game, breaking through barriers.*
*I’m ready to take on these tournaments. It’s up to me to turn these results around."*
De Minaur will begin his Washington campaign against either Yibing Wu or David Goffin.
