Three Frenchmen in the second qualifying round in Paris!
Six French players entered the 1st qualifying round of the Paris Masters 1000 on Saturday.
Quentin Halys was the first to open the ball on center court, defeating Cameron Norrie in two sets (6-3, 6-4). He will now play for a place in the main draw against the surprising Chinese player Yunchaokete Bu.
Corentin Moutet took advantage of Jaume Munar's withdrawal after winning the first set (7-5).
He faces a tough second round against Jakub Mensik, who pulled off the miracle of being eliminated in Vienna last night and winning his first qualifying round match today against Dusan Lajovic (7-6, 1-6, 6-4).
The day ended with Arthur Cazaux's victory over David Goffin (6-1, 6-7, 6-1). The 84th-ranked player will face veteran Fabio Fognini tomorrow.
The other three French players all lost in two sets: Hugo Gaston against Marcos Giron (6-2, 6-2), Alexandre Muller against Roberto Carballes Baena (6-4, 7-5) and Harold Mayot against Zizou Bergs (7-6, 6-4).
