Tommy Paul Wins a Tough Battle Against Khachanov and Advances to the Roland-Garros Round of 16
After defeating Møller and Fucsovics, Tommy Paul triumphed in five sets (6-3, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3) against Khachanov on Court Simonne-Mathieu. This marks the American’s second consecutive five-set match in the tournament and his ninth win out of 12 played.
During the match, the two players engaged in a fierce battle on their respective serves, with a combined total of 26 break points created, 105 winners, and 108 unforced errors.
With this victory, Paul secures his 7th win in his last 8 matches and his 24th victory of the season. He also reaches the second week of all Grand Slams played over the past 52 weeks. Next, he will face Australian Popyrin in the following round.
As for Khachanov, this was also his second consecutive five-set match after his win over Ofner. This season, he notably reached the semifinals in Barcelona.
