In Tokyo, the world number 12 and number 4 seed bowed out in the first round.

Facing Alex Michelsen, 49th in the world and a qualifier, the Greek champion succumbed after starting the match very well (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).
Initially dominant, Tsitsipas lost the plot completely, succumbing to an enterprising American with a string of unforced errors.
The crisis continues for the 26-year-old, who remains on a 5-match winning streak on the tour.
