Tsitsipas forced to withdraw after Davis Cup battle

He wanted to fight for Greece until the end. But Stefanos Tsitsipas is paying a high price today. Despite a persistent injury, he played during the Davis Cup match against Brazil, but the world number 27 is officially out of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, which starts next week.
The reason? A physical discomfort for which he received an injection, hoping to return in time for the Shanghai Masters 1000 (October 1-12).
Last weekend, while Greece faced Brazil in a decisive Davis Cup duel, Tsitsipas was physically impaired but still wanted to play for his country. However, the result was clear: a defeat and increased pain.
"I played with pain. But I couldn't abandon my team," the player reportedly told his entourage, according to sources close to the Greek Federation.
Shortly after returning from the Davis Cup, Tsitsipas had to undergo an injection. Despite his willingness to maintain his participation in the Beijing tournament, the medical team preferred to err on the side of caution.
The Tsitsipas camp is now aiming for a return for the Shanghai Masters 1000, from October 1 to 12. But uncertainty remains.
