Tsitsipas gives up Davis Cup to play Rotterdam tournament
Stefanos Tsitsipas will not be playing in the Davis Cup with Greece against Egypt. He announced on his Instagram account that he will be playing the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam instead.
With the match against Egypt coming to an end on February 2 and the Rotterdam tournament starting on February 3, a choice had to be made.
Tsitsipas declared: "It is with great regret that I inform you that I will not be able to take part in the Davis Cup national team matches.
A very important tournament for my career is taking place at the same time, and I will have to concentrate all my energy on preparing for and taking part in it.
I'm particularly sorry, because your support and love for the national team and for me personally always fills me with strength and motivation.
That's why I'm looking forward to resuming my duties with the national team as soon as possible, and to playing for our country as soon as conditions allow.
I'm sure our national team will do its best and fight with passion and determination."
