Tsitsipas, winner for the first time in Dubai: "I am happy with how things progressed this week"
Given his recent form, Stefanos Tsitsipas was far from being the favorite at the start of the week to lift the Dubai tournament trophy.
But little by little, the world number 11 regained confidence in his tennis, showing himself to be much more effective on the backhand, a shot he had struggled to rely on for several weeks.
After his victory in the final against Félix Auger-Aliassime, Tsitsipas expressed his satisfaction: "My game clicked. Things started working well from the beginning. I am happy with how things progressed this week.
And also with how I managed to close out some matches that could have slipped away. I had some big battles on this court.
It is a relief to finally hold this trophy after my third attempt. It is something I had in mind. I am happy to be able to say that I have accomplished it."
