Two major departures in Sinner's team just before Wimbledon
Jannik Sinner is set to begin his tournament at Wimbledon. The Italian, who reached the quarterfinals last year in London, hopes to do even better this time and go all the way in the only Major where the current world No. 1 has yet to reach the final.
For his opening match, the 23-year-old will face his compatriot Luca Nardi and hopes to progress through the tournament step by step. However, the end of Sinner’s preparation for the grass-court Grand Slam has been quite turbulent.
Indeed, as reported by Sky Sports this Friday, two members of the three-time Grand Slam champion’s team have left their roles in recent hours. These are Marco Panichi, the Italian’s fitness coach, and Ulises Badio, his physiotherapist, though the exact reasons for their departures remain unclear.
Thus, Sinner will compete in the London tournament without two key members of his team. The two men, who had previously worked with Novak Djokovic before joining the San Candido native’s camp, will not accompany Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi’s protégé for the third Grand Slam of the 2025 season.
