Tyra Grant Shows Her Ambitions Before Making Her Debut in Rome: I Dream of Becoming World No. 1 and Winning as Many Grand Slams as Possible

Italian fans will have a new player to support on the WTA tour.

Tyra Grant, a 17-year-old rising star, officially confirmed her change of sporting nationality yesterday, switching from the United States to Italy. In addition to now representing the country where she was born, she will have the great opportunity to compete in the main draw of the WTA 1000 in Rome, thanks to a wild card granted by the tournament organizers.

In comments shared by journalist Giovanni Pelazzo, the Italian-American player discussed her goals:

"I dream of becoming world No. 1 and winning as many Grand Slams as possible. I’m a little embarrassed to say it, but I train every day and make all these sacrifices to one day become the best player in the world."
