Vavassori reflects on altercation with Shelton: "If he doesn't apologize, I won't make the first move"
Shelton and Vavassori had a heated exchange during the doubles tournament in Monte-Carlo. The Italian had complained about body shots from the opposing team.
At the end of the match, the American didn’t hesitate to respond: "This is tennis, this is doubles, not baseball."
In an interview shared by *Tennis World Italia*, Vavassori revisited the incident. To say the least, the 29-year-old player is far from forgetting the words of the world No. 13:
"With Shelton, I think it’s over, even for the future. Generally, I didn’t like the way he behaved. Then, it’s up to him to decide if he comes to apologize after mocking me.
I’m someone who always forgives; I can forget things even immediately. If, on the other hand, he doesn’t take a step, I won’t either."
The player also mentioned an action that allegedly caused him an injury:
"I’m certainly not a doubles player who says you shouldn’t hit at him. Watching the video again, I was angry that he taunted me. It practically injured me, and he mocked me. Now, I have a rib injury."
