Shelton explains his change in strategy this week in Munich: "I accept that things don’t always go as planned."
Ben Shelton qualified this Saturday for the first time in his career for the Munich tournament final, becoming the first American player in history to reach the final of an ATP 500 event on clay.
While waiting to see whether Alexander Zverev or Fabian Marozsan will join him in the final, the world No. 15 explained his tactical shift this week in Germany:
"I’m enjoying playing on clay and learning a little more every day. I accept that things don’t always go as planned on clay, and I’m playing tournaments without pressure. I embrace the fact that I have to face adversity because it’s part of tennis on this surface."
