Verdasco to be Djokovic's sparring partner in Doha
Fernando Verdasco is not officially retired from the courts, but has not been seen on the ATP circuit since September 2023.
By recently taking part in an ITF tournament organized in Doha, where he has lived for many years, the 41-year-old Spaniard is proving that he is still motivated to play tennis.
And this week, as the ATP 500 Doha gets underway, Verdasco will become Novak Djokovic's sparring partner.
The information was revealed by Serbian media outlet Sportklub, but was initially misinterpreted, as rumours had it that the former world No.7 would coach Djokovic for the duration of the tournament.
These were quickly disproved, with the first training session announced between the two men this Friday between 8pm and 10pm local time.
