Victoria Mboko, the new star of Canadian tennis: "She still needs to improve" according to Nathalie Tauziat
Sensation of the North American summer by winning the title at the WTA 1000 in Montreal, Victoria Mboko made an impression and confirmed it a few months later by triumphing in Hong Kong.
Ranked in the top 20, the 19-year-old Canadian will obviously be one of the players to watch during the 2026 season.
"She needs to improve overall"
In an interview with Clay, Nathalie Tauziat discussed the areas of progress for her protégée:
"We need to have bigger goals. She is among the top twenty players in the world, but she needs to work on many aspects of her game: serve, forehand, backhand...
She needs to improve overall, also physically. There are a few small details to adjust regarding movement. But we have time."
"Playing every week is still difficult"
Injured in the wrist after her title in Montreal, Mboko will need to manage her schedule carefully in 2026 to avoid injuries that could hinder her progress:
"We need to define the ideal schedule. She is still young, she just turned 19. Playing every week is still difficult. We need to give her time to recover properly and be smart."
