In the first singles of the quarter-final between Australia and the USA on Thursday, Thanasi Kokkinakis and Ben Shelton played out a 20-minute tie-break in the third set.
Won 16-14 by Kokkinakis, the tie-break had many twists and turns, including four match points saved by the Australian.
After 30 points, Kokkinakis won the match on his seventh opportunity.
A tie-break that will go down in history as the sixth longest tie-break in the competition's history.
Moreover, such a score in a Davis Cup tie-break had not been achieved since 2019 in a doubles match between Germany and Argentina (ended 20-18).
