Video - Five Consecutive Top 10 Wins, Rune's Perfect Week at the 2022 Paris-Bercy Masters 1000

Currently 11th in the world at the age of 22, Holger Rune has been one of the best players on the circuit for several years now.
The Dane truly made his mark on the main circuit during the 2021 US Open, when in the first round, he managed to take a set from Novak Djokovic, who was fighting to win the calendar Grand Slam, the day of his first match in a Major main draw (6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1).
The following year was one of confirmation for Rune, who reached the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros and then won his first ATP titles on the clay of Munich and in Stockholm, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
Continuing his momentum, the then 19-year-old player also reached the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel and arrived at the Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy full of confidence.
Ranked in the top 30 at the start of the Parisian event, Rune was about to have a fantastic run that would propel him into another dimension.
After a tricky first-round match against Stan Wawrinka (4-6, 7-5, 7-6) in which he saved three match points, the Dane then notched five consecutive wins against members of the top 10 to claim the title.
Hubert Hurkacz (10th, 7-5, 6-1), Andrey Rublev (9th, 6-4, 7-5), Carlos Alcaraz (1st, 6-3, 6-6 ret.), Félix Auger-Aliassime (8th, 6-4, 6-2 in a rematch of the Basel final the previous week), and Novak Djokovic (7th, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 in an epic final) all fell to Rune.
With this, he claimed his 3rd title of the season (and of his career), having never previously advanced past the second round in a Masters 1000 in six attempts before this Parisian tournament three years ago.
Since then, Rune reached his highest ranking in August 2023 (4th), but has never managed to progress beyond the quarterfinal stage in a Grand Slam. In Masters 1000 tournaments, he has yet to win another trophy in this category, despite finals in Monte-Carlo in 2023 (lost to Rublev), in Rome in 2023 (lost to Medvedev), and at Indian Wells in 2025 (lost to Draper).
