Video - The unusual point won by Kostyuk against Kasatkina after a fall in Montreal

Marta Kostyuk is finding her rhythm again at this WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal. The Ukrainian, who had suffered six consecutive defeats before arriving in Canada, has now strung together back-to-back wins for the first time since Rome in May. After rallying past Marketa Vondrousova (2-6, 6-3, 6-2), the world No. 28 confirmed her form with a victory over Daria Kasatkina (3-6, 6-3, 7-6).
After a shaky first set, during which she committed 20 unforced errors in 37 minutes, Kostyuk regrouped and ultimately turned the match around. At the very start of the third-set tiebreak, just as Kasatkina had won the first point, the Ukrainian tumbled at the baseline while Kasatkina was at the net attempting to finish the point.
Kostyuk quickly got back up and eventually won the point with a running forehand winner a few shots later (see video below). That point gave her momentum in the tiebreak and ultimately helped her secure the match.
The 23-year-old won her first tiebreak of the season on her eighth attempt. Now through to the round of 16, she will face McCartney Kessler, who upset Mirra Andreeva.
"As you saw, it was a very tough match. I’ve played Dasha (Kasatkina) many times (4-4 in head-to-head), and it’s always a battle. In the tiebreak, I was already down 1-0. I fell and thought, ‘Okay, it’s going to be 2-0.’ Then she missed the smash, and I thought maybe there was a chance to win the point. I did everything not to give up, and that point symbolized all of that," Kostyuk said on court after her victory.
