Video - Zverev and Paul had to replay a point because of... a feather
Alexander Zverev and Tommy Paul fought out a four-set battle in the first quarter-final of the men's singles draw at the Australian Open 2025.
In the end, the battle was won by the German, world number 2, despite a difficult start.
Paul served to win the first two sets, but Zverev tightened his grip at the right moment to come out on top (7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1).
In the second set, when Paul was one break ahead, the two players had to replay a point when a feather appeared on the Rod Laver Arena court just inches from Zverev in the middle of a rally (see video below).
The German was not happy with this decision, and went to the chair umpire to explain that there were already several feathers on the court and that this had no bearing on the way the points were played.
In the end, the incident didn't trouble the world number 2 too much, as he came back to tie the score in the second set before taking the lead.
