Videos - Zverev / Medvedev at the Australian Open, a memorable semi-final
This year, as is often the case, hostilities on the circuit really got underway in Melbourne, at the Australian Open.
In a tournament where the very best held their own, the semi-finals logically pitted Novak Djokovic against Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev against a great Alexander Zverev (who had beaten Alcaraz in the quarters).
While Sinner dominated proceedings against Djokovic (6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3), the clash between Medvedev and Zverev was breathtaking and indecisive right to the end.
In a battle that lasted almost 4h30, the German was initially the more realistic player before finally seeing the inexhaustible Russian come back to win in the end (5-7, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3).
