Vondrousova gives up in tears to Shnaider in Adelaide

Marketa Vondrousova was making her return to the courts after shoulder surgery. She had not played in a tournament since Wimbledon in 2024.
After a first-round win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the Czech got off to a good start against Diana Shnaider, winning the first set 6-4.
Unfortunately for her, she had to take a medical time-out for what appeared to be back pain. After being manipulated by the physio, she was forced to retire.
Vondrousova left the court in tears and her participation in the Australian Open is now in serious doubt.
