Vondrousova Wins Berlin Tournament by Defeating Wang

Marketa Vondrousova and Xinyu Wang faced off for the title this Sunday in Berlin, a final that fans might not have necessarily expected, given the highly competitive draw.

Despite a shaky start in the first set, Vondrousova pulled through in the tie-break, winning it 12-10.

The second set was relatively tight, but it was the Chinese player who managed to break the Czech at 5-4 and claim the set.

However, Vondrousova quickly regained her footing, breaking early in the decisive set and facing little trouble on her serve, aside from saving two break points.

The Czech player ultimately triumphed 7-6, 4-6, 6-2, securing the Berlin tournament title—her first since Wimbledon in 2023.

With this victory, she re-enters the Top 100, which she had dropped out of two weeks ago. Unseeded at Wimbledon, she could prove to be a threat to anyone who crosses her path.
