Vondrousova withdraws before her quarterfinal, Sabalenka joins Pegula in the US Open semifinals

Following Jessica Pegula's qualification for the semifinals of the 2025 US Open, the second women's match of the day was set to feature world number one and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka against Marketa Vondrousova in the evening session on Arthur Ashe Court.
However, the anticipated duel between the two players will not take place, as the Czech withdrew just hours before stepping onto the court. The official US Open X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed the news on Tuesday evening.
"Marketa Vondrousova has withdrawn from the women's singles tournament due to an injury. The updated schedule for today's evening session will be announced shortly," the American Grand Slam wrote on social media.
As a result of this last-minute withdrawal, Aryna Sabalenka automatically advances to the semifinals and joins Jessica Pegula in the race for a spot in the final. This will be a rematch of the 2024 final, which the world number one won last September (7-5, 7-5).
