While there has never been a women's match scheduled for the night session at Roland-Garros, Aryna Sabalenka spoke out about this after securing her spot in the semifinals by defeating Qinwen Zheng.
"I have to say we deserve equal treatment. There have been many battles, many high-quality matches that deserve to be seen in the night session so more fans can attend and witness these incredible battles.
It deserves more people. We deserve to be more in the spotlight, with better scheduling in terms of timing, and more fans watching the matches."
Sabalenka had opened the action on Court Philippe Chatrier at 11 a.m., a time when the stands were still relatively empty. A questionable choice for a match featuring the world No. 1.
