"We've all been in that situation where everything went wrong," Kyrgios reflects on Anisimova's Wimbledon final defeat
On TNT Sports, 2022 finalist Nick Kyrgios looked back at the women's singles final between Swiatek and Anisimova. After just 57 minutes of play, the American suffered a historic 6-0, 6-0 defeat—a result not seen on Centre Court since 1911.
"I think we've all been in that situation where we felt extremely uncomfortable on court, where everything went wrong, where you did everything in your power to prepare, but nothing worked.
I think that's why we have some love for Amanda. We shouldn't forget she still made it to the Wimbledon final. That match was yesterday, and she'll improve for next time, so it doesn't really matter."
For context, Anisimova took an extended break from 2023 to 2024 to recharge physically and mentally. Since her return, she had staged an impressive climb up the rankings, culminating in her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon.
