With no host country for the 2025 finals, suspense reigns over the Davis Cup
The Davis Cup will have a new venue for the finals next season, but the destination has not yet been decided by the ITF.
For 2025, the team tennis competition will return in part to its old format, with 26 teams competing in the 1st round in a home/away format. From the quarter-finals onwards, however, the format remains unchanged.
The eight teams qualifying for this stage of the competition will play at the same venue, as has been the custom since 2019.
Except that the ITF is unable to decide where the finals will be held. A general meeting is being held this weekend in Malaga to discuss the matter, but the decision is not expected to be revealed until next year.
Many discussions are said to be underway to satisfy the players, remain consistent with the calendar and also avoid offending nations already angry with the event's current format.
With less than a year to go before the next finals, the Davis Cup finds itself without a host country for the time being.
