Withdrawal for the grass season, Arthur Fils could lose big upon his return

Still recovering from his back injury, which forced him to withdraw before his third-round match at Roland-Garros, Arthur Fils has had to pull out of Wimbledon. After a very strong start to the season, the Frenchman’s momentum has been halted, and he could lose significantly before his return to the courts.
Indeed, the 22-year-old player will not be able to defend the points he earned in 2024 on grass—specifically, the 100 points from his quarterfinal in Halle and the 200 points from his round of 16 at Wimbledon. This is on top of the 500 points he secured with his victory on clay in Hamburg.
Currently, Arthur Fils is ranked 15th in the world with 2,920 points. As a result, he could lose nearly a quarter of his ranking points, which would push him out of the top 20. While he has announced he is skipping the grass season, the French player has not yet provided a specific date for a potential return.
