Withdrawal from the US Open, Atmane is registered for the Chengdu tournament
Terence Atmane has just experienced one of the finest moments of his career. Coming through the qualifiers at the Cincinnati Masters 1000, the Frenchman made his way to the semifinals, securing prestigious victories against Cobolli, Fonseca, Fritz, and Rune.
A surprise guest in the final four, he then conceded, delivering a strong performance against Jannik Sinner. Nevertheless, injured and fatigued from his journey in Ohio, the 23-year-old player was forced to withdraw from the US Open qualifiers.
However, Atmane already knows the identity of his next tournament and will make his return to the ATP Tour during the Asian swing, more specifically at the ATP 250 tournament in Chengdu, China, starting September 17.
This tournament will feature only two top 30 players, Jack Draper and Lorenzo Musetti. Other players such as Tallon Griekspoor, Brandon Nakashima, Luciano Darderi, Lorenzo Sonego, Cameron Norrie, and Sebastian Baez will also be present.
On the French side, several players will join Atmane in the draw: Alexandre Muller, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, and Gaël Monfils are registered to participate in this tournament.
Moreover, Terence Atmane loves Asia and has already completed a tour on the continent earlier in the season on the Challenger Circuit. He even won two tournaments, in Busan, South Korea, and Guangzhou, China, and also reached the semifinals in Wuxi.
