WTA 1000 Montreal: Early Exit for Jacquemot and Gracheva, Andreescu Defeats Krejcikova
The main draw of the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal kicked off this Sunday, featuring two French players.
Unfortunately for them, both were eliminated. Elsa Jacquemot, who had qualified for the main draw by defeating Carol Zhao, failed to follow through against Rebecca Marino.
After serving for the first set, the French player collapsed, losing the match 7-6, 6-1.
Varvara Gracheva had also secured her spot in the main draw by beating Maddison Inglis but fell in the first round to Lin Zhu with a score of 6-4, 7-6, despite having three set points in the second set.
There was also a clash between former Grand Slam champions as Bianca Andreescu faced Barbora Krejcikova. The Canadian emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
In the next round, she will face Mirra Andreeva.
