WTA 125 Limoges: Jacquemot Joins Kalinina in the Final After a Thriller
Elsa Jacquemot, the last French player in contention at Limoges, aimed to reach the final. The world number 59 faced Anna-Lena Friedsam in the semifinals.
This match had its share of twists and turns, but in a contest with numerous breaks (nine on each side), Jacquemot, aged 22, had to dig deep to turn the situation around. Trailing by a break in the deciding set, she ultimately prevailed in three sets after a suspenseful battle (6-2, 2-6, 7-5 in 2 hours and 29 minutes).
Jacquemot Eyes First Career Victory Against Kalinina
In the final, Jacquemot will face Anhelina Kalinina. The Ukrainian had qualified earlier in the day with a win against top seed Cristina Bucsa (6-4, 6-3 in 1 hour and 14 minutes).
In her first tournament since June, the world number 155 is having a great week with victories against Von Deichmann, Kartal, Parks, and thus Bucsa. She will take on Jacquemot for the title, a player she has never lost to in two previous encounters.
