WTA 250 Austin tournament draw: Kvitova makes her comeback against Burrage, Pegula's draw affordable

The WTA 250 tournament in Austin marks the return to competition of Petra Kvitova. The Czech, who hasn't played since Beijing in 2023, will be playing in her first tournament since her pregnancy.

In Texas, the two-time Wimbledon winner saw the draw made. The former world number 2 will face Jodie Burrage, ranked 189th in the world.

Number 1 seed Jessica Pegula, a finalist in Adelaide earlier in the season, will face Arantxa Rus in the first round before potentially facing Malaika Rapolu or Nuria Parrizas Diaz in the second round.

Lacking confidence at the start of the season, Diana Shnaider will play a qualifier, then Sorana Cirstea or Laura Siegemund in the last 16.

Varvara Gracheva, the only Frenchwoman in the main draw (should Selena Janicijevic fail to qualify), will face Peyton Stearns, seeded number 3.

The two women have already met in Cluj-Napoca at the beginning of February, with the American winning in three sets. The Frenchwoman will be out for revenge in this encounter.
