WTA Rankings: Andreeva New World No. 6, Sabalenka Extends Lead Over Swiatek

After two weeks of intense competition at Indian Wells, the WTA rankings have seen some changes, including a major one, with the return of 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva to the Top 10, now ranked 6th in the world.
By securing her second consecutive WTA 1000 title yesterday, the young Russian has reached the highest ranking of her career with 4,710 points and is just a few points away from the 5th spot held by Madison Keys, who has 5,004 points.
At the top, Aryna Sabalenka comfortably retains her position as world No. 1, having reached the final at Indian Wells, and also benefits from Iga Swiatek's failure, who was defeated in the semifinals, to now hold a 2,231-point lead over her rival (9,606 points compared to 7,375).
Among other notable climbs, Belinda Bencic, who was defeated in the quarterfinals at Indian Wells, rises 13 spots to now occupy the 45th position in the world.
On the losing side, Maria Sakkari, who was defending a final appearance in California (and was eliminated in the third round this year), drops out of the Top 50 after falling 22 places to rank 51st.
Finally, there are now only two French players in the Top 100, with Diane Parry exiting the Top 100 after losing the points from her quarterfinal run at Indian Wells last year.
Varvara Gracheva, the top-ranked French player, climbs five spots to become 65th, while Caroline Garcia drops three places, falling to 74th in the rankings.
Garcia will have a lot at stake in Miami this week, as she is defending a quarterfinal appearance and could drop out of the Top 100 if she is eliminated early in the tournament.
