"You can be so proud," Cornet's message after Garcia's retirement announcement

This Friday morning, Caroline Garcia took everyone by surprise. At 31, the Frenchwoman, former world number 4, will retire in the coming weeks.
While the winner of the 2022 WTA Finals has not yet detailed what awaits her in the coming months, Garcia will compete in her last Roland-Garros in the next few days, both in singles and doubles.
Facing Bernarda Pera, she will also play doubles alongside Diane Parry. The pair received a wild card from the tournament organization in the last few hours. After announcing her almost imminent retirement, her compatriot and friend Alizé Cornet paid her a beautiful tribute on her Instagram account.
"A new chapter is soon beginning for you, my Caro, and there would be so much to say. About your career, your determination, your ethics, and the inspiration you are and will continue to be for so many people, including me. You can be so proud. About our memories, too, and this beautiful friendship that binds us and will not end at the same time as your professional tennis.
On the contrary. Thank you for being my partner, my teammate, my favorite player, my friend. Enjoy your last dance, but don't worry, other incredible emotions await you," the Niçoise wrote on the social network.
To which Garcia herself responded: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We've had beautiful moments on the courts but we are far from finished creating memories together. We will continue to laugh and enjoy life," assured the future retiree. To recall, both women won the Billie Jean King Cup together with France in 2019.
