"You're playing too fast! My racket is broken," when Sinner and Machac faced off in Shanghai
In 2024, Tomas Machac reached the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters 1000, notably defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.
He faced Jannik Sinner for a spot in the final. The Italian played exceptionally high-quality tennis that week, as evidenced by the state of Machac's racket, which he preferred to joke about.
After a point, the Czech player went to replace his broken racket and jokingly told Sinner: "You're playing too fast! My racket is broken."
The Italian had to move closer to Machac because he hadn't understood. He ultimately won 6-4, 7-5 before defeating Novak Djokovic in the final.
