Zverev Eases Through His Opening Match in Halle
Zverev faced Giron in the first round of the Halle tournament.
As the No. 2 seed, the German wasted no time in dispatching the world No. 43 (6-2, 6-1) in just 1 hour and 18 minutes.
The 28-year-old was unshakable on serve, winning 100% of points behind his first serve in the second set, and highly effective on break points earned (5/8).
A finalist in Stuttgart last week, Zverev has shown strong form on grass so far. In 2024, he reached the semifinals of the German tournament before falling in the Wimbledon round of 16.
For a spot in the quarterfinals, he will take on Italian world No. 46 Sonego.
