Medvedev Defeats Halys and Secures His 400th Tour Victory
Medvedev faced Halys in the second round of the Halle tournament. Their last encounter dated back to 2023 at the Miami Masters 1000, a match the Russian won in straight sets (6-4, 6-2).
After Altmaier, it was the Frenchman's turn to exit the German capital, eliminated by the No. 3 seed in just over an hour of play (6-2, 7-5). This result allowed Medvedev to reach 400 career ATP tour victories.
A quarterfinalist in 's-Hertogenbosch last week, Medvedev hopes to perform even better in Halle, having not advanced past the second round in 2024. While the 29-year-old has achieved his best results on hard courts, he continues to improve on grass each year, as evidenced by his back-to-back Wimbledon semifinals (2023, 2024).
For a spot in the semifinals, he will face the winner of the match between Tsitsipas and Michelsen.
