Zverev, Musetti, Rune: Toronto Draw Revealed
The organizers of the Canadian Masters 1000 have conducted the draw. After the wave of withdrawals announced, the cards have been completely reshuffled this year.
Zverev takes Sinner’s place as the No. 1 seed and lands in the first quarter of the men’s draw. While he benefits from a first-round bye, he could face Bonzi in the second round and potentially meet Rune in the quarterfinals.
The Dane might have a tough start if he ends up facing Mpetshi Perricard. The Frenchman will play a qualifier. Rising star Fonseca will begin his tournament against a qualifier and, if successful, could face Arnaldi next. Defending champion Popyrin, as well as Medvedev and Muller, are also in this section.
In the second quarter of the men’s draw, Musetti and Monfils could meet in the third round, Humbert will likely face Bergs in his opening match, and Ruud could play Safiullin. In the third quarter, Rinderknech will take on local favorite Galarneau, while Tiafoe might face Altmaier.
As for the other French players, the top-ranked Frenchman, Arthur Fils, has landed in a tricky section of the draw, as he could face Fritz in the round of 16. Gaston, meanwhile, will play Bellucci, and Moutet is set to take on Brooksby.
Finally, the projected quarterfinals are Zverev (1) vs. Rune (5), Musetti (3) vs. Ruud (8), Tiafoe (7) vs. Shelton (4), and Rublev (6) vs. Fritz (2).
