Zverev on Draper: "It will be interesting to see how he evolves"
On Sunday, Jack Draper won the Indian Wells Masters 1000. The 23-year-old British player had a great tournament, culminating in a perfectly controlled final match against Holger Rune (6-2, 6-2). As a result, Draper entered the top 10, directly at the 7th position.
To date, this is the highest ranking of his career, just hours after winning the third ATP title of his career. For the ATP website, Alexander Zverev, the world number 2 but defeated early by Tallon Griekspoor in Indian Wells, reflected on Draper's triumph in California.
"He has been playing well since the end of last year. Jack has improved and is much more consistent, especially on the forehand side, which has always been a fragile shot for him. But he is truly a good player.
Indian Wells is a tournament where many players struggle, but many others love it. I have always been more on the side of the struggling players, unfortunately for me.
But Jack is truly a good player. He has grown and matured a lot, and he deserved to win this Masters 1000. He also deserves to be in the top 10. So it will be interesting to see how he evolves. This is a good thing for him, but also for Holger.
Holger has had some difficulties over the past eighteen months, so I am happy to see him back at this level as well," said Zverev, who will enter the Miami Masters 1000 against Benjamin Bonzi or a qualifier.
