Zverev Overcomes Griekspoor After a Hard-Fought Battle

After a tightly contested match from start to finish, Zverev escaped the Griekspoor trap and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Munich tournament.
In the first set, the two players were neck and neck, with the tiebreak deciding the outcome (8-6 in favor of the Dutchman). The set lasted nearly 1 hour and 11 minutes.
Statistically, Zverev and Griekspoor posted nearly identical numbers, with 13 and 12 winners respectively, and 16 unforced errors each.
In the second set, the German was down a break (4-5, 0-15) but managed to claw his way back, forcing a second tiebreak, which he won 7-3.
Finally, in the third set, the 27-year-old broke his opponent’s serve at 3-3 to secure the match (6-7, 7-6, 6-4). It took him four match points to defeat the world No. 34 after 3 hours and 13 minutes of play.
Zverev claimed a hard-earned victory, having struggled with poor form recently. After an early exit in Monte-Carlo, the Australian Open finalist lost his world No. 2 ranking to Alcaraz.
In the next round, he will face the winner of the match between Bergs and Marozsan.
