Zverev takes his revenge on Tien and advances to the second round at Roland-Garros
Finalist last year, Alexander Zverev returns to Roland-Garros this Tuesday with the ambition of finally winning his first Grand Slam title. The first obstacle on the German's path this year is Learner Tien, who had defeated the world number 3 during the Acapulco tournament last February (6-3, 6-4).
On clay and in a best-of-five sets format, Zverev had ample opportunity to outplay the American this time, and the Hamburg native was serious this afternoon.
On the Court Suzanne-Lenglen, Zverev clearly dominated this meeting. With 28 winners and 28 unforced errors, the finalist of the last Australian Open was not troubled on his service games, conceding only three break points, all saved. The German also broke four times and won this match confidently (6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in 1h53).
Zverev reassures himself after his sometimes early eliminations in recent weeks (apart from his title in Munich) and reaches the second round where he will face Francesco Passaro or Jesper De Jong, before a potential third round against Félix Auger-Aliassime or Flavio Cobolli.
