Zverev's Harsh Assessment of His Season: There Haven't Been Many High Points

Defeated by Félix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Zverev exits the ATP Finals in the group stage for the fourth time in eight appearances. The German assessed his season, which he considers a failure.

In a decisive match for qualification for the semi-finals of the Turin Masters, Alexander Zverev was dominated by Félix Auger-Aliassime this Friday evening (6-4, 7-6 in 2h07). While the world number 3 will play in the Davis Cup Final 8 next week, he reviewed his season in a press conference after his loss to the Canadian. The 28-year-old player gave a harsh assessment of his results and performances throughout the season.

"I think Félix (Auger-Aliassime) has evolved as a player in recent months, he played better here than in New York (he had beaten Zverev in the third round of the US Open). I also have to be honest with myself, this was the worst match I've played in the last month, including the one against Sinner in Paris, where I wasn't in form.

On my side, it wasn't a good tennis match. The season has been incredibly disappointing, it's been too long, with far too many ups and downs. For me, there haven't been many high points, at most the Australian Open final, plus the title in Munich. For the rest, I am very dissatisfied, that's all.

Staying fit is my absolute priority, because that's the only way to start building something. It's as simple as that. Over the last month, I felt like my level was improving, but today, I again didn't live up to what I showed last month.

I will now play the Davis Cup, and then I'll take some time off to reflect quietly. For now, this defeat is a disappointment, not only because of the result, but also because I wasn't able to play at my best level. That's what is most disappointing," Zverev regretted to Punto de Break.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.

What a finish this is.. I believe King has used his boost for today. Skelp is closing strong. Two wins and he claims 1st if I lose my last prediction.

Gonna be difficult with only 2 pointers to choose from.
