To win RG you need to be really mentally tough. At the moment we only have a handful guys who fulfill this criteria: Roger, Rafa, Novak, Stan and Del Potro. Roger is on the ropes and Delpo still recovering, and Stan is obviously not in form. So it will no doubt stand between Rafa and Novak. I don't think that Thiem has what it takes to win RG although at times he is the best clay court player in the world. Since several years Rafa has both mental and tactical issues with the Serbian because Novak found the key to unlock Rafa's game. To me Novak is therfore the favorit, also for the final tomorrow, not big favorite because it's clay and Rafa has indeed upped his game now, but still favorite.

Huge win got Nadal to get a trophy before FO and particularly to get it against Novak! Vamos!

Reading through the posts, after djoke won the second set, his fans really thought he would win today. And even some of Rafa's fans thought he would. And then so soon afterwards, djoke's fans started in with the excuses again (repeating the first set excuses after that bagel). Last year djoke was 6th for return games won. Guess who was first? Yep. Rafa. Hope it's Rafa holding the trophy at RG. 12 titles there would even be more exceptional than 11. Undisputed King of Clay. Don't know (and highly doubt) if the game will see any of these numbers on any surface ever again. The bull reigns! Hold that! Because it will be held!

Novak can beat Rafa. He has the game. And Rafa can beat anyone in clay if his Forehand is on fire. But the fact that in their last meeting Rafa lost in straight sets in a slam final(for the 1st time), I would give the mental edge to Novak. Having a mental edge is very crucial in any matchup. So going to pick Novak to win this match.

I am a proud rafan and of course I very much wish for a rafa victory on this one. However, I refuse to get carried away by his recent victories leading up to today's final. Without much ado about the somewhat humiliating defeat he suffered in novak's hands at the 2019 AO final, it is really difficult to see how rafa can somehow manage to turn the tables to his favour later this afternoon.



The fact remains that novak is in Rafa's head, however appalling this may sound for rafans. I really do not believe that the surface of play will have any significant bearing in the outcome of this match, suffice it to say that they both have defeated each other before on all surfaces, albeit novak boasting the most victories from their recent clashes. I certainly know that there is a huge mental block at rafa's disadvantage whenever novak is at the other end of the net. I am also sure that it's beyond just that, believing that it involves the need for rafa and his team to recognise the correct tactics to play novak, and rafa ensuring successful execution of those tactics.



It won't be easy to do, but rafa has done it before. To do it again today he will need to get his act right psychologically, to pave way for his optimal utilisation of his arsenals such as his FDL. He will also need to serve smartly. Doing all of these with the right mindset and free of injury concerns, I believe, put rafa in the right stead to cause the very much needed upset that will give him the equally much needed boost, which he now desperately need to be able to consistently compete against novak at a high level, particularly for the remainder of the season.

Rafa is playing very average tennis for last 30 minutes. Making so many mistakes. If he can't beat djokovic when he is exhausted, wonder how he can do it when joker would be fresh. Rafa clearly has Novak wrecking havoc on his mind.

Federer and Nadal will not have played such a shot. Victory never comes through luck. Delpo made an error due to pressure. Novak is a mental giant. And no player is invincible. I bet delpo would have blown Federer off the court considering how hard he was hitting the ball that day. But he is not a 15 time champion and Novak wiped the floor with delpo where it mattered the most in the US open finals last year. I see head 2 head of all the players you mentioned and Novak is leading them right now....

Once in a while if you defeat Novak does not mean anything in Tennis. He will top all the stats soon .
