Kyrgios: "I can't see myself playing singles here again".

Le 13/01/2025 à 13h21 par Jules Hypolite
Kyrgios: I can't see myself playing singles here again.

Making his comeback three years after his last Australian Open match, Nick Kyrgios was beaten in the 1st round by Jacob Fearnley in three sets.

Diminished by an abdominal injury, the Australian was not in good physical condition and was unable to trouble his opponent.

In a press conference, Kyrgios was pessimistic about his chances of returning to Melbourne next year: "Realistically, I can't see myself playing singles here again... So yes, it was special. I didn't want to throw in the towel and give up.

I was suffering physically, but I respect my opponent.

The fans waited for hours to see me play. But it's true that I can't see myself playing a singles match here again."

He also took the opportunity to talk about the rest of the season: "I'll use my protected ranking. Wimbledon is a big goal for me.

I feel that if I don't have an abdominal injury, I'll still be able to make some noise. I'll try to keep having fun and be sincere."
