After a more than average year in 2025, Frances Tiafoe seems to have regained his motivation. The player who ended his season after the Shanghai Masters 1000 this year was able to rest in preparation for the 2026 season.

Moreover, this season's Roland-Garros quarterfinalist defeated Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition match in recent days. Invited on Andy Roddick's podcast in the last few hours, the 27-year-old American discussed the challenge of facing the Spaniard as well as Jannik Sinner, the two best players in the world at the moment.

"I continue to believe that Carlos (Alcaraz) and Jannik (Sinner) are not invincible. I have to think that way. I've played Carlos twice in Grand Slams, and each time the matches went to a fifth set in tournaments that he ended up winning. And I also think I let those two opportunities to beat him slip away. At Wimbledon last year, it's a match that I let slip.

"At Wimbledon, I was up two sets to one"

It's true that in the semifinals of the 2022 US Open, I did what I could to stay in the match. We were at 3 games all in the fifth set, but I held on as best I could in each of them, including the ones I won.

However, at Wimbledon, I was up two sets to one, with several return games where I led 0-30... If you ask me: are these two guys very difficult to beat? Absolutely.

That's why they win practically every tournament they play. But, if you tell me that practically the entire tour has a chance to beat anyone, and that at the end of the week, you have to beat two guys... I'm in," assured Tiafoe on Andy Roddick's podcast.
